Karyn B. Perry, Ph.D.
Dr. Perry is owner and
president of Midwest
Psychological Consultants.
She earned a doctorate degree in clinical psychology from the
University of South Carolina. She is a licensed psychologist
in the states of Kansas and Missouri. Throughout her career she
has worked in a variety of settings. She served as the Director
of Psychology for an inpatient psychiatric facility in Kansas
City, KS for over three years before establishing her private
practice. She also has experience in other psychiatric hospitals,
a juvenile justice facility, and outpatient psychological clinics.
She has taught undergraduate and graduate courses on an adjunct
basis at Avila University, Penn Valley Community College, Midlands
Technical College, and University of South Carolina. She is an
active board member of the Greater Kansas City Psychological
Association and holds memberships in state, regional, and national
psychological associations.
Dr. Perry founded the SITE program
in order to address the growing problem of self injury. She understood
that there was a need for this type of program in the Kansas
City area. She has received advanced training in suicidal/parasuicidal
and self-harming behaviors. She cares about the process of helping
others stop their self injury and assisting their loved ones
in understanding and coping with the self injuring person. In
order to meet the needs of other professionals who come into
contact with self injurers, she is available for workshops that
focus on improving professionals’ ability to effectively
understand, identify and address self injury in their clientele.
